Employed, over 5 thousand by July

1,724 in May and 5,440 by July. These are the new entries into the world of work in Polesine in Infocamere’s forecasts. Based on Excelsior system analysis informs in May and approximately 1,720 entries into the world of work will be scheduled in the province of Rovigo; in Veneto there will be 48,700 and in Italy around 494 thousand. This is a driving force for employment, but be careful, the analysis does not record exits, and therefore it is not at all obvious that these figures will translate into an increase in the number of employed people.

As regards the province of Rovigo, in 20% of cases the expected revenues will be stable, i.e. with a permanent or apprenticeship contract, while 80% will be fixed-term (fixed-term or other contracts with a predefined duration); the expected revenues will be concentrated 61% in the service sector and 65% in companies with fewer than 50 employees. 12% will be allocated to managers, specialists and technicians, a share lower than the national average (16%). And again: in 56 cases out of 100 companies expect to have difficulty finding the desired profiles, and for a share equal to 28% they will affect young people under 30 years of age.

In Veneto there are just under 494 thousand employment contracts (lasting more than one month or for an indefinite period) scheduled by companies in May and almost 1.6 million for the May-July quarter, with an increase in labor demand of approximately 27 thousand units compared to May 2023 (+5.8% ) and by almost 35 thousand units over the corresponding quarter (+2.2%). The industry as a whole is scheduled for more than 136,000 entries in the month and more than 410,000 in the quarter, representing growth of 3.5% and 2.4% respectively compared to a year ago. Service companies are looking for 357 thousand workers in the month and around 1.2 million in the quarter, with increases of 6.7% and 2.2% respectively compared to the same period in 2023. The South and Islands are the area more dynamic territorial with 140 thousand contracts expected. The bulletin of the Excelsior information system, created by Unioncamere and the labor ministry, outlines the scenario.

In May, the manufacturing sector is looking for 85 thousand workers which rises to 262 thousand in the quarter. The mechatronics industries offer the greatest job opportunities (22 thousand contracts to be activated in the month and 65 thousand in the quarter), followed by those of metallurgy (16 thousand in the month and 48 thousand in the quarter), agri-food (12 thousand in the month and 45 thousand in the quarter) and fashion (10 thousand in the month and 29 thousand in the quarter quarter). The construction sector, however, plans 51 thousand entries for the month and 148 thousand entries in the quarter. Also notable, thanks to the approach of the summer season, is the demand for work in the tourism sector with 119 thousand job opportunities offered in the month and 405 thousand in the May-July quarter. Finally, there are many job opportunities offered by commerce with 69 thousand entries scheduled for the month and 220 thousand in the quarter.

The mismatch between job supply and demand remains high: in May, 48.2% of the professional profiles sought were difficult to find. The Borsino of professions reports among the most difficult profiles to find the specialized worker figures such as workers assigned to machinery in the textile and clothing industry, specialized workers assigned to construction finishings.
