After the presentation event of the Enduro World Championship for muscular and electric MTBs of the Municipality of Finale Ligure, to which the Municipality of Sanremo was invited as guest of honour, the outgoing municipal councilor Mario Robaldocandidate for the Sanremo al Centro list in the civic coalition for Sanremo in support of Alessandro Mager, takes stock.
“If I think back to where we started ten years ago I must admit that great progress has been made, the result of a long administrative commitment by many people. In 2014 we started practically from scratch with regards to outdoor sport and tourism. In 2015 we created the Monte Bignone Forestry Consortium and from there began a long journey that has given great satisfaction and which I have been able to follow step by step in recent years thanks to the assignment received from the mayor Alberto Biancheri. The next step, in 2020, was the birth of Sanremooutdoor, an association of 38 municipalities in Western Liguria of which Sanremo is the leader. For the first time we have created a vast network of paths that embraces the Riviera dei Fiori and the Ligurian Alps Park, and at international events and fairs we have begun to promote this environmental and landscape “jewel” in a tourist and sporting perspective, with excellent feedback.”
Fresh from the Finale event in which he took part together with the outgoing Councilor for Culture, Silvana Ormea, Mario Robaldo looks ahead with renewed ambitions: “We can still grow. The territories of Sanremo and Finale, which together bring together almost 50 municipalities, can create synergy and collaborate both in terms of international promotion and in building large-scale events together. We talked about it and there is a common will and there is already a very important planning idea. We know how much this could enhance the territories and how much it could yield in tourism terms, also and above all in terms of deseasonalization. It is a goal of mine, and one of the reasons that pushed me to reapply for the next administrative elections to carry on this work.”
