In Vedano al Lambro, a middle school in Via Italia is under construction until 2026: lessons are held in the former town hall

It was a ultra-fast flash renovation in the former town hall of Vedano al Lambro. Renovating the rooms was necessary to welcome the pupils of the middle school in via Italia, who were left without school, because it is undergoing renovation. The move of the classes, which moved only two house numbers, was needed precisely to start the renovation work.

Monday, April 29th was the first day of classes. Twelve classrooms plus a computer laboratory have already begun to welcome students, teachers and staff. A move that penalized the children little, also because the former town hall and school in Via Italia are very close.

Vedano: lessons in the former town hall renovated in record time

“We managed to coordinate for the good of our kids – explains the urban planning councilor Chiara Altieri – so that they can continue to work, without interrupting their studies by jumping from one school to another without even realizing it”.

The inauguration of the temporary classrooms in the former town hall took place last Saturday. During a public meeting, the mayor and councilors have showed the Pnrr project of the new school to the Vedanos and allowed families to visit the temporary classrooms in the former town hall where the fire prevention system has been restored with an alarm system that covers the entire building. The security systems have been rethought by dividing all the blocks of the building which houses, in addition to the school, nursery, library, senior center and culture room with new walls and fire doors. The lighting system and the entire wiring necessary for IMs and computers were also redone. Finally, the windows and doors were replaced to save energy.

The students will remain in the new classrooms of the former town hall until the end of the 2025-26 school year. Meanwhile, at the school in via Italia, which hosted them less than a month ago, there are just a few days left before the start of work. Also present at the inauguration were Valentina Calì, current principal of the Giovanni XXIII comprehensive institute and Katia Ruocco, future principal who will administer the Vedano schools from the next school year. “Commendable work has been done – commented Ruocco – it’s important that the kids didn’t hear the break.”
