The commitment made by the association to guarantee a space in the area dedicated to the spectacular tradition of classical music is renewed with each new event. The 2024 concert season is giving great satisfaction to the members of the association and the very talented musicians of theMediterranean Philharmonic Orchestra and the enthusiasm shown by the public immensely repays the work done at each event.

Sunday 12 May at 8.00 pm at the Auditorium of the former conservatory of San Luigi di Trani, the Latitudo 41 Cello duo, artistic couple already established internationally and made up of Sujari Britt and Mauro Paolo Monopoli, will perform in a concert that aims to be a harmonious journey through time covering the different musical eras and their respective musical styles and languages. The two extraordinary cellists have chosen, in fact, to perform in a program full of pieces of the highest quality aimed at showcasing the compositional evolution found in the history of classical music. Pieces by Domenico Gabrielli (1659-1690), Jean-Baptist Barrière (1707-1747), Luigi Boccherini (1743-1805), Niccolò Paganini (1782-1840) and Gabriel Fauré (1845-1924) will follow one another during the evening.

Born in New York, Sujari Britt discovered the cello at just 4 years old. From that moment on, cello music became a means for her to fully express her multifaceted personality. Sujari Britt obtained her professional diploma in cello and composition in London at the prestigious Royal Academy of Music, her master’s degree in cello performance with the famous cellist and pedagogue Martti Rousi at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki and the Barchelor of Music in Classical Cello Performance at the Manhattan School of Music in NYC. Among her performances in the United States, Sujari Britt performed with Alisa Weilerstein at the White House for President Obama, the First Lady and their distinguished guests. While she, as a soloist, she has performed with the West Michigan Symphony Orchestra, the Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra, the Rogue Valley Symphony Orchestra, the Queens Symphony Orchestra, and other prestigious orchestras. Articles in Strings and Time magazines have been dedicated to her enormous talent, and she has been interviewed by the BBC.

The Italian cellist Mauro Paolo Monopoli began studying the cello at the age of 5 and obtained the cello diploma at the Piccinni Conservatory in Bari at the age of 17 with a score of 110 honors and Honorable Mention (a mark never assigned before to a cellist in the history of the Bari conservatory). In June 2017 he was the first prize winner of the 10th International Tchaikovsky Competition for Young Musicians. This was a very singular record for Mauro Paolo Monopoli who obtained the important prize as the only Italian musician awarded in the history of the competition. He performed as a soloist at the 5th International Festival of Russian and Italian Culture Oci ciornie and the 2nd International Tchaikovsky Festival in Moscow at the Gnessin Concert Hall. In February 2019 he was invited by the Sibelius Academy and performed as a soloist at the Cellofest at the Musikkitalo Concert House in Helsinki. In October 2019 he made his debut with the prestigious Orquesta Sinfónica Simón Bolívar of Venezuela in Caracas.

Two careers, those of Britt and Monopoli, of great importance which reveal a fantastic talent and an ineffable knowledge of the instrument. These two champions of classical music will perform together, combining their amazing talents, in a performance that will amaze the audience.

During the evening the following works will be specifically performed: Ricercari, canone and sonatas for two cellos by Domenico Gabrielli, Cello duet in G major No.4 by Jean-Baptist Barrière, Sonata G5 in A Major by Luigi Boccherini, Variations on Moses-fantasia
