FOSSANO – “Mom, are you sure that what your children eat doesn’t contain rubbish?”. Coldiretti will ask this Sunday, Mother’s Day, to all the mothers they will meet at Expoflora, the traditional horticultural, horticultural and gastronomic market exhibition scheduled in Fossano.
The slogan is the same with which, at the beginning of the new millennium, Coldiretti founded the foundations of a loyal and sincere relationship with consumer citizens, focusing on food safety, protection of the quality and origin of the product; a “pact with the consumer” which today is stronger and more necessary than ever to counter the threats to the Italian agri-food sector which harm both consumers and Cuneo and national agricultural businesses.
This Sunday, May 12, in Fossano, on the occasion of Expoflora, Coldiretti at its stand in via Roma will offer a fragrant Made in Cuneo floral gift to all the mothers who sign the nofakeinitaly petition to say enough to imported foods disguised as Italian and defend the health of citizens and the income of farmers by extending the obligation to indicate origin on the label to all food products on the market in the European Union. The objective is to collect one million signatures to arrive at a popular initiative European law proposal on the transparency of what we bring to the table.
“Enough of the indiscriminate entry of everything that comes from the markets, without any filter. We do not want to close the doors, but to guarantee full transparency to allow consumers to make informed choices. The risk today is to bring ‘Italianized’ foods to the table but not Italian because they are produced from the processing of foreign raw materials” claims the President of Coldiretti of Zona Fossano, Raffaele Tortalla.
“It is no longer acceptable to witness scenes like those we experienced during the Coldiretti mobilization at Brenner, where we saw foreign hams, tomato paste, fruit and vegetables arriving destined to become Italian products in all respects” he adds Ivan Matteodo, Coldiretti Secretary of the Fossano area.
The real Made in Italy will be on display at Exploflora with the Coldiretti producers of the Campagna Amica network who will color Via Roma yellow, offering a vast range of fresh and processed products, with the absolute guarantee of authenticity and traceability.
