Yesterday evening, 10 May 2024, the incredible spectacle ofnorthern Lights. The first photos have arrived from the province of Cuneo: the first taken in Montemale, the second in Tarantasca, taken just before 11pm.
To make the SAR (red arc of the Northern Lights) possible at our latitudes, it would be a “severe” solar stormwhich will last the whole weekend, thus ‘illuminating’ the skies of Piedmont.
“Take a night in mid-May, a tom tam of updates on various sites, a quick climb up the hill to a spot (Pino Torinese) which towards the north shows the Basilica of Superga (direction to always look at in these cases, Iceland docet), the camera that starts shooting, the first red/purple colors, the disbelief (it can’t be, it’s not really happening come on…), the phenomenon that increases until it becomes visible to the naked eye (it only happened in Iceland… and very few times), the chills, the emotion, the eyes get wet…”, commented the photographer Valerio Minato. “I saw the sky shed purple tears over my city, I cried with it. History was made tonight.”
