THE EAGLE. Six people under investigation and over four kilograms of drugs seized.
This is the balance of the anti-drug operation carried out by the operational section of the Carabinieri of the Compagnia dell’Aquila – at the instigation of the deputy public prosecutor Guido Cocco – which led to the recovery, in recent days, of approximately 4 kilograms of hashish and 30 grams of cocaine, putting an end to the drug dealing activity that had been set up by a criminal syndicate made up of a Macedonian and five Albanians.
The police investigations had led to an arrest Idajet Saliaj And Tahir Selmani, the first 34-year-old Albanian and the other 54-year-old Macedonian, accused of possession for the purpose of trafficking of narcotic substances. The two, defended by lawyers Francesco Valentini And Simona Marianithey stated before the judge for preliminary investigations of the court Marco Billi that they were completely uninvolved in the matter and that they did not know the owners and recipients of the drug shipment. For this reason, the investigating judge, who did not validate the detention of the Prosecutor’s Office, believing that it had not been carried out within the terms of the law, released them without applying any precautionary measures. However, investigations are continuing to shed full light on the matter. The operation, which lasted 48 hours, started from the request for help from a 23-year-old Albanian, II, who had arrived in L’Aquila last January as a construction worker and was allegedly forced, through threats, to drive the car used by three young people, including two brothers, all Albanians residing in the regional capital, to transport hashish and cocaine. The drugs had been purchased in the Marsica area and then taken to the L’Aquila area for trafficking purposes, especially in the countryside between Ocre and San Gregorio-Paganica. Here the narcotic substance was kept to be used at the appropriate time. It was the 23-year-old baby courier who told the police the details and, having repented, allowed the investigators to reconstruct physical violence and threats. The investigation is not over, since the police have seized the suspects’ telephone to analyze phone records and conversations. The investigations could therefore expand to involve other people.
