A goal and a narrow victory, just enough. Palermo takes home the three points and emerges victorious from the “Druso” stadium in Bolzano against Sudtirol. On the last day of the Serie B regular season the Rosanero found the success they had been missing in the league since March 10th. An away victory that boosts morale and, above all, useful points for the league table.

With this victory, in fact, the team coached by Michele Mignani maintains sixth place in the standings. Thanks to this placing, therefore, the rosanero will face Andrea Pirlo’s Sampdoria at the “Barbera”, on Friday 17 May at 8.30pm, who finished seventh despite the 3-1 away win against Catanzaro.

The match was decided by a goal from Salim Diakité in the 64th minute of the match. After a boring and emotionless first half, the French defender, almost halfway through the second half, takes advantage of a rebound and beats the Sudtirol goalkeeper. This time, however, Mignani’s team did not allow themselves to be caught up and despite some risks they won the match at the referee’s final whistle.

Michele Mignani’s first victory since coaching Palermo also arrived at the “Druso” stadium. The Sicilian coach, in fact, up to this point had totaled four draws and two defeats on the pink bench. And in the last match of the regular season, therefore, he obtained his first victory with the Viale del Fante club.

Now all Palermo’s energies will have to be directed towards the promotion play-offs. The first match, as announced, will be against Sampdoria at the “Renzo Barbera” in a one-off match next Friday. The other Serie B verdicts say that Como finished second and are promoted to Serie A with Parma. Venezia is third, while Cremonese finishes in fourth place. The playout match will be between Ternana and Bari, while Ascoli, Feralpisalò and Lecco are in Serie C.
