The news. Trapani immediately started strong with a 5-0 run thanks to Notae’s cold triple, but Assigeco did well to get back into the game with triples from Gallo and Serpilli, always staying in close contact with their opponents. Two minutes from the end Piacenza even took the lead (16-15) thanks to Skeens’ rebound-basket combination. The definitive push in the first set was given by Giovanni Veronesi, who scored a wonderful triple in transition after Serpilli’s precious recovery. The red and whites end the first quarter leading 19-15.

The second quarter begins with the sound of triples, with Serpilli calling and Imbrò responding immediately afterwards. Trapani immediately sets things straight by scoring an 8-3 run after the first three minutes. The match is a continuous reversal of the front, with a long series of overtaking and counter-overtaking. Worth highlighting are the performances of Marini and Querci, the latter author of two triples to make it 30-30. This is the moment when Veronesi lights up, scoring five triples and ending the second quarter with 24 points. With the triple at the end of the usual Veronesi, at the end of the first half Assigeco is +13.

Lorenzo Querci takes all the heat, scoring three triples and sending Trapani’s comeback attempt back to the sender, having in the meantime moved to -9. Four minutes from the end, another triple from Querci, but captain Mollura joins the game and with an exceptional performance from the arc closes the gap to -3. Bonacini’s triple is a breath of fresh air, but Trapani continues to score and at the end of the third quarter Piacenza’s lead has vanished; 70-70.

Trapani returns to the lead after two quarters forced to chase, but Piacenza doesn’t give up and thanks to Bonacini’s baskets and D’Almeida’s defense they get back to +3. Yet another triple from Veronesi decrees the +6 with five minutes to go. However, the Granata confirmed themselves as an excellent rebounding team and returned to a tie at 82-82. Sabatini’s flash allows the red and white to put their heads back, but Trapani remains there and even finds the +1. With 26 seconds left Veronesi drives PalaBanca crazy with another triple. Trentello for him and victory for Piacenza.
