Asylum seekers in Polesine: the first part of the construction training completed

ROVIGO – For the Rovigo Building School The first part of the training program envisaged by the agreement stipulated between the Ministry of the Interior, represented at this juncture by the Prefecture of Rovigo, the Ministry of Labor and Social Policies, Ance – National Association of Building Contractors and the organizations sector unions Feaneal Uil, Filca Cisl and Fillea Cgil, for the job placement of asylum seekers in the construction industry in the Province of Rovigo.

After the signing of the agreement in the Prefecture of Rovigo, the Rovigo Construction School activated the specific courses envisaged by the memorandum of understanding which allowed 21 young peoplehosted in the Extraordinary Reception Centers of Polesine, to learn a job and therefore be able to prepare for complete integration with the society that welcomes them.

“The Rovigo Construction School is not new to this type of activity” underlines the president of the Rovigo Construction School, Paolo Ghiotti. “In this process which involved the social partners, the personal and professional profiles of the 21 applicants were first assessed and, subsequently, thanks to the collaboration with the bodies that manage the reception service for asylum seekers, the training. Special thanks go to the Prefect of Rovigo, Clemente Di Nuzzo, for the attention dedicated to this delicate inclusion program for the 21 young people involved. The Prefecture has played a crucial role and if the result obtained is positive it is also thanks to this fruitful collaboration that has been created between us, the Construction School and them” concludes Ghiotti.

Following the lines dictated by the national Formedil, the Rovigo Construction School was thus able to start 80 hours of training starting from the month of April, mainly dedicated to training in workplace safety and to improving knowledge of the Italian language.

Work as a form of integration and as personal growth and that of the entire community.

However, the School’s activity does not end here.

“Thanks to the Gol project (a regional program foreseen by the Pnrr of which the School is assigned), two paid training internship courses are planned, one of 46 hours and one of 160 which will allow asylum seekers in Polesine to improve their knowledge of the construction sector, acquiring skills that can be used on the job market which will lead them to the qualification of bricklayer” he explains Rizzieri Lauro Biolcati, vice president of the Rovigo Building School.

The teachers involved and the social partners are satisfied because, once again, the Rovigo Construction School has demonstrated its proactive responsiveness in the area both as a training body for the young generations and as a body ready to concretely support the needs of the labor market.
