The last diaphragm of the Roseto 1 tunnel was also demolished, a significant achievement for the Third Megalot of the SS106.


COSENZA – The last diaphragm in the northbound tube of the Roseto 1 natural tunnel was also knocked down this morning. The Roseto 1 tunnel, approximately 1,200 meters long and with double tubes in each direction, is part of the 38 km of the Third Megalot, under construction since May 2020. The project, carried out by Webuild on behalf of Anas, a company of the Infrastructure Hub of the FS Group Italian, has reached 61% progress and involves the construction of 5 km of natural tunnels, 5 km of artificial tunnels and 7 km of viaducts.

Once the last diaphragm of the “Roseto 1” tunnel has been demolished, work on the Third Megalot of the Ss106 Jonica state road is proceeding at full speed. The Third Megalot, under construction since May 2020, is the main intervention planned along the Calabrian section of the Jonica State Road.
The project involves a route 38 km long on two separate carriageways, including 5 km of natural tunnels, 5 km of artificial tunnels and 7 km of viaducts. The route develops in the province of Cosenza. And, it winds between Sibari and Roseto Capo Spulico. Crossing the municipalities of the Alto Jonio Cosentino of Cassano all’Ionio, Francavilla Marittima, Cerchiara di Calabria, Villapiana, Trebisacce, Albidona, Amendolara and Roseto Capo Spulico.
