An opportunity to experience these next three days in peace, perhaps even taking part in some events in our area. So here is our usual selection of events of what to do at the weekend!
What to do in Como
Como, Albate oratory – Saturday 11 May “Bridges of humanity” for peace. Appointment from 4pm organized by the diocesan Caritas with the Como organizations active in welcoming Ukrainian citizens and in humanitarian missions in Ukraine, together with the apostolic exarchate for the Ukrainian Catholic faithful of the Byzantine rite. Workshops for children, testimonies, prayer, concert and Ukrainian dinner are planned.
Como – “Cultura Grumello 2024” joins the Fuori Orticola program with green events. The first event will be held on Sunday 12 May: at 11am and 3pm, visit to the historic naturalistic park of Villa del Grumello with Anna Bocchietti, a guide who will provide suggestions and in-depth information. The seasonal blooms of wisteria and azaleas combined with monumental trees, such as the “living fossil” ginko biloba, find their habitat in a romantic setting. Furthermore, the “Racconti in Musica” exhibition continues at Grumello with the third concert in collaboration with Como Classica: Sunday, at 5.30 pm, “Listening to wine, tasting music: champagne”, music by Beethoven, Boccherini, De Falla, Granados , with guitarist Federico De Conno.
Olgiate Comasco – Friday 10 May, at 9pm in the auditorium of the Medioevo conference center in via Lucini 4, Bmx Ciclistica Olgiatese, company chaired by Alessandro Croce, promotes a meeting on healthy eating and correct lifestyles. Speaker: sports dietician Francesco Roncoroni, to discover how nutrition can influence an athlete’s performance. The initiative is organized with the patronage of the Lombardy Region and the patronage of the Municipality of Olgiate Comasco, the Olgiate Comasco Sports Council and the Panathlon International Club of Como.
Solbiate con Cagno – the parishes of Concagno and Solbiate invite to the party for mothers. Sunday 12 May at 12 aperitif and lunch: apple and speck risotto, braised meat, with side dish and final dessert. Possibility of takeaway upon reservation.
Montano Lucino – sixth edition of “Communicating Vases”, on Sunday 12 May narratives of the territory will accompany a walk through the municipalities that are on the border: San Fermo, Chiasso and Balerna. The day will be dedicated to discovering the most evocative areas through a pedestrian itinerary on the border. The stories can be listened to individually in each town, in San Fermo there are three moments in Villa Imbonati: at 10am, at 3.30pm and at 5pm and it will be possible to take part in the walk which will start from Villa Imbonati after the reading at 10am and continue in Chiasso, enjoying a risotto offered by the Ticino Municipality and then arriving in Balerna.
What to do in Erba
Lurago – To celebrate Mother’s Day, the Lambrugo-Lurago d’Erba Pastoral Unit will organize some initiatives. Specifically, today, Saturday 11th, and tomorrow, Sunday 12th May, cakes and biscuits will be sold at the entrance to the churches. Tomorrow at the Lurago oratory at 3pm, the “Let’s play with mum” event will take place. Afterwards, there will be a snack and an aperitif. To participate in this initiative, it will be possible to register at the oratory bar.
Tavernerio – The initiatives of the Magolibero parents’ association of Tavernerio continue, always active to create moments of aggregation in the municipal area. A new event is scheduled for today, from 4.30pm: a very special day dedicated to mothers… And also to their children. The event will take place today, Saturday 11 May, at 4.30 pm at the «Livatino» civic center in Via Risorgimento. Entrance, with a card, is free. The program of the event includes an artistic workshop for children and a moment of relaxation dedicated to all mothers. At the end of the event there will be an aperitif. Lipomo – The new project «Let’s have fun and learn with Cri», by the Lipomo Red Cross, is coming soon. With this project, aimed at people aged between 8 and 13, participants will have the opportunity to play activities and games themed on emergency, environment and communication. The project will take place from today, Saturday 11 May, and on the following Saturdays 18 May and 15 and 29 June, from 2.30 pm to 5.30 pm at the headquarters in via Oltrecolle 289. With this project we want to bring younger people closer to the world of the Red Cross, in order to raise awareness of the institution and its objectives: an important project for which significant participation is desirable.
What to do in Cantù
Cadorago – A tournament to celebrate the mother and at the same time to help the Santa Maria nursery school. Mother’s Day will be characterized by nothing less than the “Mother’s Tournament”. The appointment will be tomorrow, Sunday, at the gym. Registration requires 10 euros: all funds raised will go to the Santa Maria di Cadorago nursery school. The restaurant will be open all day where you can taste delicacies, accompanied by many delicacies to sip. All details and info can be asked from Roberto at 339.3743357. The initiative owes its organizational merit to Cadorago Volleyball.
Cadorago – A weekend dedicated to a mini golf tournament. The initiative takes place today, Saturday, at the Cadorago oratory. The opportunity to register is open to everyone. Anyone who intends to participate can register their participation up to an hour before starting the tournament. The membership fee per person is 5 euros per person. As for the challenges, accreditation will begin at 3pm, while the actual tournament will begin at 3.45pm. If the weather does not allow the initiative to take place, the event will be cancelled. Casnate con Bernate – The municipal villa is ready to welcome the Supercars of Ferrari, Porsche and more again. Tomorrow, Sunday 12 May, the event organized by the Pro Loco of Casnate con Bernate entitled “Supercar in villa” will be held, a real parade of luxury sports cars from the “Il grande cuorerosso” association, accompanied by food and music. The meeting is scheduled in Piazza San Carlo at 10.30 and from there the parade of supercars will start through the streets of the town. The cars will then return to the villa at 11.30am and will remain on display until 6pm. At midday there will also be an aperitif offered by Re/Max, while the Pro Loco will take care of salami, beers and spritzes and there will be a concert from 3pm to 5.30pm of the Ciloster Band.
Mariano Comense – The «Ancient and award-winning musical group of the city of Mariano Comense» is preparing to celebrate «Mother’s Day». The concert will be staged on Sunday 12 May, at 4pm, in the auditorium of the Jean Monnet Higher Institute, and will be directed by maestro Sonia Spada. Original pieces for band will be performed, but also transcriptions of famous songs that have characterized the history of contemporary Italian music. There will be no shortage of forays into the world of classical music and the great musicals of the 70s. There will be the participation of a guest: the voice of soprano Daniela Peruta will accompany some songs. The singer will demonstrate her art from the first song on the program, a composition dedicated to the memory of Pope John XXIII; but her voice will also be the protagonist of an aria taken from Puccini’s opera «Tosca» and of «Time to say goodbye», the English version of the song that made Andrea Bocelli’s talent famous throughout the planet. The surprises, however, don’t end there. The announcement was made by the president of the musical body, Giuseppe Pozzoli. «The concert will be opened by a performance by the ensemble music group, made up of young students who are following the musical courses organized by our association».
Mariano Comense – Penna Nera with the patronage of the Municipality of Mariano Comense, will be near the civic library tomorrow from 9am to 4.30pm and on Sunday from 8.30am to 1.30pm. It will be possible to purchase flowers, plants and other productions of the cooperative.
Cermenate – Only a few hours left and then we can begin the “Wine Fair”, the unique event of its kind which this year has reached its 13th edition. As per tradition, the fair takes place in mid-May: this year it will take place today, Saturday, and tomorrow, Sunday. The opening hours to the public today will be from 3pm to 10.30pm, while tomorrow, from 10.30am to 7.30pm. No entrance fee is required: entry is free. The appointment is in the Renato Malacarne sports complex in via Montale.
