Gian Piero Gasperini lit up the whole city of Bergamo, giving theAtalanta the first European final in its history. In Dublin the Dea will challenge the German champions Bayer Leverkusen, with the possibility of lifting a historic trophy for the club.
Atalanta in the Europa League final: 3-0 against Marseille (goals from Lookman, Ruggeri and Touré), the Dea goes to Dublin
The percentage in Gasperini’s salary
Gasperini is not the coach most in the spotlight in Serie A and certainly not among the highest paid, even if his career has rightly given him extremely high consideration. Since he sat on the Dea bench he has led the Bergamo club to compete for important goals and to regularly participate in European competitions, from the Champions League to the Europa League. His tactical ideas were, in some ways, revolutionary. In Italy he is the fifth coach in terms of salary, behind Allegri, Inzaghi, Pioli. Mourinho was also ahead of him in terms of earnings, before his dismissal a few months ago. Few, however, know some of the mechanisms linked to his compensation at Atalanta, which just yesterday led to the Europa League final, the first European final in the club’s history. However, there is a clause in Gasperini’s contract which allows him to have a higher salary than what he would receive on paper.
The percentage on capital gains
According to the reconstructions of the prosecutor Massimo Brambati, the agreement that binds Gasperini to the DEA is much more complex than one might think. Indeed, in addition to the 3 million euros net per seasonthere would be a particular clause that would allow the Goddess coach to receive significantly more. «Gasperini earned more than anyone else in Italy last year. Well 9 million euros». He said Brambati during an interview on Radio TMW. This is because Gasperini would also have 3% on the capital gains that the company makes from the transfers of players. A sort of prize to enhance the players on a daily basis, leading them to have a value that is decidedly higher than the initial one. The most recent cases are those of Hoijlund, sold to Manchester United, Romero to Tottenham, Kulusevski to Juventus, Kessié to Milan, Boga to Nice and many others who have allowed the Dea to be able to reinvest significant sums on the market.
