Acerra, Ministry of the Environment, in the Pellini case, initiates compensation action
ACERRA – The Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security has responded to the request made by Legambiente and Libera on the Pellini affair.
“With the subsequent declaration of ineffectiveness in March 2024 by the Supreme Court of the confiscation of assets for the Pellini defendants – we read in the Ministry’s response letter made known by Legambiente – the District State Attorney’s Office deemed it appropriate to carry out a supplementary investigation regarding the feasibility of civil action for compensation for environmental damage and asked to activate Ispra for the necessary technical support involving the assessment of the state of the sites to which the environmental damage is connected and the quantification of the costs of the activities necessary to achieve the complete and correct implementation of the measures to repair environmental damage”.
The Ministry of the Environment, continues the response sent to the two associations, has “invited ISPRA to provide the technical support requested by the State Attorney’s Office for the purposes of the forthcoming civil compensation action”.
“Since 2018, also as President of the City Council, I have asked the Ministry to do what the law says and the same final sentence on the Pellini entrepreneurs, convicted of an environmental disaster, that is, to bring before the civil judge what only the The Ministry can and must do so, quantify the environmental damage and establish the amount of compensation due to clean up – declares Andrea Piatto on behalf of the 7 municipal councilors of the Civic Coalition”.
“The result achieved by Legambiente and Libera marks a turning point. This is what we had asked the parliamentarians of all the parties elected in our constituency to do – conclude the 7 municipal councilors of Civic Coalition X Acerra – and on which we had forced the municipal council to meet”.
