Conad comes to the aid of the workers of the Crai group. This is the appeal from Ascom Forlì through its director Alberto Zattini: “We are concerned to read that the process for the so-called ‘Ospedaletto Est’ area in via Ravegnana, with a commercial area of 5 thousand square metres, is proceeding quickly. Now the disaster has occurred. We never, ever thought we would see Forlì reduced to this state. When all the settlements are completed, there will be a real cannibalization between commercial structures and only workers and small businesses will pay the price. After all, if a group loses money in Forlì it closes, says goodbye to the community and moves on. Today we read that some political forces have in their program a “stop” to the consumption of the territory and the opening of new structures: a mockery for the community”.
The Crai case
Zattini continues: “There has been news in recent days that the Crai supermarket in Via Balzella has changed ownership, has 21 employees, all of whom have ended up on redundancy pay. The trade union organizations have asked for the intervention of the institutions, the latest being the Regional Councilor Colla: this is not the solution, indeed we would not want false expectations to be generated in those who have lost their jobs. There is a person who, if consulted and made aware, could find an alternative to the many workers of the Crai group who are losing their jobs: the Cia-Conad group. To find a solution we should turn to the large-scale retail trade giant, which could absorb the Crai workforce within its existing structures.”
