Yesterday afternoon, May 9th, an interesting conference was held with the theme “The pedagogical challenges contemporary: emotional education and cooperative teaching, the Rossi method”, promoted by various associations operating in Benevento, in co-planning between CSV Irpinia Sannio ETS and the Educational Community Insieme per Benevento. The following took part: Giuseppe Schipani (President me x Benevento APS), Maria Cristina Aceto (CSV Irpinia Sannio ETS Director), Marcello Palladino (City councilor of Benevento and delegate for education) e Stefano Rossi (Educational psychologist, writer and trainer at the center for cooperative teaching).
A large audience was the backdrop to the broad debate, made up of volunteers, school teachers and various professionals in the sector. We report some brief summaries of the interventions that followed.
Giuseppe Schipani, as promoter of the conference, spoke: “On youth planning and the need to change the school learning model to avoid abandonment and innovate through the educational model, which takes emotions into serious consideration by combating educational poverty, which they are necessities of all the national indicators and our territorial social research on the analysis of needs has documented.
Marcello Palladino: “Thanks to everyone, thanks to the professors and to everyone present in the classroom. I bring greetings from the Mayor of Benevento Hon. Mastella, who for institutional reasons was unable to be here with us. Naturally the Municipality of Benevento supports cooperation and precisely supports young people in this historical moment. The philosophy of the Rossi Method is fundamental, it brings us back to the importance of taking care of others as Don Milani taught us. And therefore, the Municipality of Benevento will certainly carry forward this teaching through initiatives and with the support of local associations and the Youth Forum. We must think about the fact that school plays a fundamental role, even at this time when social media thought they were pre-eminent.”
Maria Cristina Aceto: “I thank the io x Benevento association and everyone present at this conference. I am at the presidency table, but I also thank our Councilor Antonietta Raduazzo present in the room, because the CSV Irpinia Sannio is a very, very large group made up of volunteers, made up of employees. We also have the territorial coordinator Maura Cappuccio, the secretary Luigia Cardone. So Giuseppe, it is very kind of you to identify the CSV in my person, we are a very large and operational group. Today, we have the opportunity to listen to the Educational Psychologist Rossi which is for us the aim of leaving content, which we can use in everyday activities as teachers, as volunteers in our associations. Therefore, an important opportunity for growth for all of us, and they are an educational challenge for what can be done without accentuating the discomfort.”
The debate was concluded by the pedagogist Rossi, who spoke for about two hours, of which it is impossible to summarize what he discussed even if he wanted to. We learned that: “The scholar is among the leading experts on childhood and adolescence in our country and spoke about the cooperative teaching method (Rossi Method), developed after 20 years of research and field experimentation. The peculiarity of the method, which distinguishes it from other cooperative models, is its simplicity, thanks to numerous cooperative formats that can be created in a few minutes, stimulating, inclusive and engaging cooperative lessons. To date, more than 50 thousand teachers and over 500 schools have been trained on the Rossi Method. The philosophy of the Rossi Method is to propose cooperation, not as simple doing together, but as a deeper caring with empathy for each other. An approach, inspired more than by contemporary efficiency, by the lesson of Don Milani.”
