It will take place on Monday May 13thstarting from 10am, at the Auditorium of the Campania Region (Management Center, Isola C3, Naples) the prize Teresa Buonocore. The initiative, now in its third edition, was born from the will of Teresa’s daughter, Alessandra Cuevas and is promoted by the Partenope Dona odv association, the Silvia Ruotolo onlus foundation, with the patronage of the Municipality of Naples, the Metropolitan City, the Campania Region, the Municipality of Salerno , Pol.is Foundation

Teresa Buonocore was killed, at the age of 51, on 20 September 2010, riddled with gunshots, on the orders of the man who, following his complaints and the trial carried out personally for the very serious crimes of pedophilia, he was sentenced to 16 years in prison. The award in memory of the courageous mother awarded the gold medal for civil merit and in her memory, intends to promulgate the culture of legality and the protection of children and women.

The winners

This year the winners, who will speak during the ceremonyopen to the public and which will see the presence of local schools, will be: Don Luigi Ciotti (founder of Libera), Gildo Claps (Elisa’s brother), Dario Del Porto (journalist for La Repubblica), Don Fortunato Di Noto (president of the Association Meter), Lucia Fortini (regional councilor for youth policies and schools), Giovanni Malagò (president of the Coni), Giulia Minoli (author, president of the Una Nuovi Centomila Foundation, vice-president of the CCO Association – Crisi Come Opportunità), Noemi Staiano (little girl injured in Piazza Nazionale on 3 May 2019), Mariagrazia Santosuosso (criminal lawyer).

Acknowledgments also to the families of four victims of femicide: Stefania Formicola, Norina Matuozzo, Annamaria Sorrentino, Giulia Tramontano; to the mayor of Naples and the Metropolitan City Gaetano Manfredi; to the municipal and metropolitan councilor Salvatore Flocco; to the president of the Edela Association Roberta Beolchi; to Alessandro Coppola (young man suffering from Usher syndrome); to the first and second level schools that joined the project: Enrico Medi high school in Cicciano; D’Ovidio-Nicolardi Institute of Naples; Ipseoa Cavalcanti of Naples; Alfano I state high school in Salerno. The prizes consist of a sculpture donated by the entrepreneur Giuseppe De Stefano, which depicts the feet of a mother and a child towering over each other to give each other security, a symbol of filial love without borders, as explained by the phrase chosen by De himself Stefano: “I will be there every step of the way”.
