Faisa Cisal, doubts and concerns in the renewal of the LPT and railway sector in Umbria

Christian Di Girolamo, a member of the Faisa Cisal union, recently raised a series of issues regarding the tender process for local public transport (TPL) in Umbria, highlighting uncertainties and problems that could influence the future of the sector. During a critical analysis, Di Girolamo highlighted several areas of worry which are emerging in the period of expression of interest in the tender by companies.

In particular, an extension in the deadlines for submitting offers was reported, a factor that adds doubts to the administrative procedures already underway. This situation, as explained through the legal observations drawn up by the lawyer Valeria Passeri, indicates the need to make corrections to the material errors in the tender documents, which concern aspects substantial in an essential competitive procedure such as that of the TPL.

Di Girolamo also highlighted the difficult economic condition of some companies involved, which despite the sale of numerous real estate assets, show signs of financial instability. This context is causing considerable inconvenience to workers, particularly those based in the Assisi warehouse, who for years have suffered inadequate health and safety conditions due to the lack of significant investments.

Moving on to the railway infrastructure, Di Girolamo raised questions regarding the renewal of the railway infrastructure on the southern Perugia-Terni section. Although the modernization process seems proceed towards a rapid conclusion, doubts remain as to how the stretch will be modernized to ensure safety and efficient connections, respecting contemporary standards of functionality and speed.

As for railway staff, there is some tranquility regarding the future of many workers, now part of the FSI group. However, there remains considerable uncertainty over the fate of maintenance department employees, with the possibility that some of them will have to relocate to continue their work in other locations.

Through these statements, Di Girolamo has reiterated the union’s commitment to carefully monitor the safety and working conditions of all employees involved, underlining the need for a more transparent and considered approach in decisions that influence both staff and users of the LPT in Umbria.
