Trapani, illegal landfill seized – Il Sole 24 ORE

(LaPresse) The soldiers of the Provincial Command of the Guardia di Finanza of Trapani have concluded an environmental police intervention which led to the identification and seizure of an illegal landfill of over 5,000 m2 and the reporting of an entrepreneur for environmental crimes. The inspection activity originates from one of the daily economic control services of the territory carried out by the Alcamo Company during which the financiers, thanks also to the operational support of the Air Section of the Financial Police of Palermo, detected the presence of a uncontrolled waste storage carried out within a property located in the immediate vicinity of the town centre. From the control activities, carried out jointly with technical personnel from the ARPA of Palermo and the Municipality of Castellammare del Golfo, the abandonment of a significant mass of waste – of various types and mainly dangerous – throughout the entire controlled area was ascertained. Inside the property, the operation of a mechanical workshop was documented, through which painting and welding work was also carried out, in the total absence of the required environmental authorizations, as well as the construction of products in the absence of a building permit.
