It doesn’t stop the demographic winter of Romagna: the trend towards constant aging of the population, in fact, is once again confirmed by the analysis conducted by the Cooperation Study Center of Legacoop Romagna, on the processing of ISTAT demographic data on a Romagna scale: Ravenna is the oldest province of Romagna.
The level of seniority
The survey will be presented Tuesday 14 May at 9am at the Covered Market of Ravenna, on the occasion of the budget meeting of Federcoop Romagna. A population, that of Romagna, which ages more than the nation and also the rest of the region: on 1 January 2024, 25.23% of Romagna people were over 65, compared to 24.66% of the inhabitants of Emilia-Romagna and the 24.34% of Italians, with the sad record of the oldest province of Romagna which goes to Ravenna (26% of elderly people) followed by Forlì-Cesena and then Rimini, the youngest.
Low birth rate
An aging that is also the result ofefficiency of local health and social health services, but which is accompanied by a further inexorable downward trend, namely the decline in births: -123 children born in Romagna in 2023 compared to 2021, with a slightly positive balance in Forlì-Cesena (+38), slightly negative in Rimini (- 15) and in sharp decline in Ravenna (-146). Furthermore, an unprecedented and “special observation” data, Romagna also records a decrease in the births of children born to foreign couples, in contrast to the trend compared to 2021 and the last 30 years.
