Nevada is a young female guest of the Cuneo Municipal Kennel – Lida Section. She is not yet two years old and in that time she has already had to face several painful challenges. Next August 1st will be her birthday and the Kennel has clear ideas about the gift she would like to give her: finishing the perioperative process and finding her a family that will last her life.
Nevada’s story begins with her arrival in the Kennel on 31 May 2023: she underwent her first medical examination two days later, during which unfortunately a serious genetic malformation in her hind limbs was found, a diagnosis later confirmed by the first orthopedic examination in the clinic which took place as early as the following month, in which it was ascertained that Nevada was born with a misalignment of the hind limbs. There are two options for her: the non-interventional one which would have condemned her to a tiring life due to the walking which would have led her to move by crawling, or the surgical intervention. Following the specialist’s advice, also given the young age of the dog, the President of the Association Roberto Russo, followed unanimously by the members of Lida, decided to undertake the surgical procedure.
Nevada is subjected to analyses, investigations and consequent operations on both hind limbs carried out at the “Il Centro Veterinario Fossanese” clinic by Dr. Sarotti and brings home her first great victory: the operations had a positive outcome. However, the challenge is not over yet and in the following months she begins her rehabilitation thanks to physiotherapy at the CTO of Arenzano and at the “Animal Wellness” Veterinary Physiotherapy Center in Gallo d’Alba. Nevada proves to be strong and energetic but the operations are not yet finished: two operations await her to align her feet which she will follow with related rehabilitation. Nevada has so far been accompanied by excellent professionals who have been able to act in the best possible way for her psychophysical well-being.
But Nevada is much more than a clinical story. This year, the kennel operators and the volunteers who are close to her every day have recognized her as a truly exceptional dog; not only has she never complained and has endured the pain of the operations stoically, but she has never lost the vitality and sweetness that characterize and distinguish her. Nevada is that dog for whom “it’s never too late for the last cuddle” and who always wants to interact and give her love.
