Confindustria Catanzaro launches “DigiLab for Future”

Promote the employment of unemployed and inactive people
residents in Calabria and offer innovative tools that can help reduce the gap between job supply and demand. This is the goal of “DigiLab for Future”the selected project e
supported by the Fund for the Digital Republic-Social Enterprise which will be achieved thanks to a partnership with multidisciplinary skills.

The team is made up ofMercatorum University, Athenaeum
digital of the Chambers of Commerce, Confindustria Catanzaroa point of reference for businesses in the province of Catanzaro, Aulab, the first Italian coding factory specialized in digital training, and beOn Foundation ETS, an organization that deals with training, recreational and experiential projects for people with disabilities.

The initiative was presented this afternoon at the headquarters of Unindustria Calabria during the event entitled “Territory, businesses, inclusion” aimed at entrepreneurs, associations and bodies that deal with job intermediation. Among the participants Giulio Paolo Del Seppiaresponsible for the institutional activities of the Fund for the Digital Republic Social Enterprise, together with other representatives of the organizations involved.

To introduce and conclude the meeting, Aldo Ferrarapresident of Confindustria Catanzaro and Unindustria Calabria: “This is a strategic initiative for our territory and for our businesses which will have the opportunity to give further impetus to the digital transition through the inclusion of people with digital training avant-garde”, has explained.

“The digital missmatch on the Italian labor market is a consolidated phenomenon, as confirm the survey data from the Excelsior Information System of Unioncamere and Anpal, second where the difficulty of companies in finding staff with basic digital skills varies from 34.9% to 37.8%”he added later Gianpaolo Basileprofessor of Economics and Business Management
of the Mercatorum University.

DigiLab for Future will allow 125 people who do not work, aged between 34 and 50 to participate in entirely free courses such as Full Stack Developers, Web Designers and Operators for digital printing 4.0. The courses will start at the beginning of next July and will end in December 2024.

“It’s not just a digital training program excellence but also of orientation, coaching and support tools for participants who
they will be accompanied right from the selection stage in building a path to develop digital skills that can be used in the job market and in local companies – has explained Pina Pedicinihead of the Projects and Services Area for companies at Universitas Mercatorum. Particular attention will also be paid to people with disabilities, for whom support actions are planned by the partner beOn Foundation ETS”.

According to Unioncamere-Excelsior data, between 2024-2028, in Calabria, the employment needs of companies for technical professions and specialized workers are 17 thousand units, equal to 19% of all the profiles required. In the month of April 2024 alone, the need for professional figures such as market relations technicians, IT technicians, telecommunications technicians and engineering technicians was 4,260 units, equal to 62% of the total expected revenue.

These are important numbers that require a capacity for placement initiatives, to which the project seeks to give concrete answers, with the commitment to offer job placement opportunities to at least 75 participants, within 6 months of the end of the project.

“The experience in training profiles that are very difficult to find in the job market such as programmers and web designers, will make an important contribution to the placement of the project”he added Isabella Spadaro, Head of Career Service at Aulab Hackcademy.
