Vanoli has decided to continue in the name of continuity and the first piece of the new season was the confirmation of coach Demis Cavina and the current coaching staff, an announcement that was in the air and which arrived at the conclusion of the Serie A Basketball Championship.
“When there are common projects and common values are shared, we go beyond the duration of the contracts and relationships continue. There was a quick negotiation because we all wanted to continue our work – comments Demis Cavina – I am very happy in Cremona, I have found a company that, I repeat, shares my values and where working is pleasant and there is also a great union of intentions. There wasn’t the slightest doubt and I’m also very happy because I feel very comfortable in Cremona, I feel very comfortable in this city and therefore I can’t wait to start, even if in truth we have already started”.
And about the future…
“The objective is very clear, and also what the new championship will be; we imagine that two teams with great ambitions will move up, so the group of teams in our bracket is thinning out and there will be a lot to fight for. This year we did it well, with a very specific team idea and, without making too many proclamations, for next year we are thinking of a team that has the same characteristics, at least human, as the previous one. Obviously everyone would like to keep all the players, the group intact, but we know it’s very difficult.”
There is a desire to confirm part of this year’s roster, but it won’t be easy.
“We know that Cremona has always been used to having this type of season and being considered a bit of a transition and from these players’ motivations he has always had the extra something to then achieve his goal. So we are not worried, even if we are aware that it will be a difficult market for us, but we have always had a great sharing of ideas and I’m sure that we will be able to do well this year too.”
At the end of the season, compliments arrived for coach Cavina from the sports press and Davide Denegri was included among the best Italians in the Serie A championship, a satisfaction for Vanali and her coach.
“Deg was the first player I talked about with Andrea and Aldo, I still remember our first chat in Carisolo. In the period after Sassari, I was at home for four months and I went to see him in practically all the matches and I had already spoken to him before signing for Cremona. So it does me a lot because he is a boy who deserves it, Davide has given a lot, obviously we wish him the best of luck, the spotlight has turned on him, we know very well that there are important teams who would like him and we are very happy with his journey. But just as we are happy with all the guys this year, I think the great thing about this year is that we are all better than at the start of the championship, thanks to the enormous work that has been done by the staff and the players.
