50 million to Molise to reduce water losses

The ministerial decree of the Ministry of Infrastructure has been published which assigns one billion euros, additional funds, to be allocated to reducing losses in water distribution networks.
50 million euros are arriving in Molise, they will finance the project presented by Egam for the digitalisation of networks and monitoring.
«Good news for all the people of Molise: thanks to the funds obtained from the MIT, led by the minister Matteo Salvini, as part of the remodulation of the Pnrr, 50 million euros are arriving for Molise», commented the regional secretary of the League Michele Marone who announced the allocation. «Thanks to the work of the governing League, with this intervention it will be possible to significantly reduce the waste of drinking water while modernizing the distribution networks», he concluded.
The funds, obtained from the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport as part of the remodeling of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, concern the investment which targets losses in water distribution networks, including digitalisation and monitoring. The objective is to significantly reduce the dispersion of drinking water by modernizing distribution networks and introducing advanced control systems that allow monitoring the main nodes and the most vulnerable points of the network.
Already last December 8, the Ecofin Council of the European Union – we read in a note from the MIT – approved the new Implementing Decision which, essentially, authorized an increase in the financial allocation of one billion euros, for which however was still awaiting a decree from the State General Accounting Office, currently in the registration phase.
The decree published by the MIT ensures financing to the subjects who were admitted but not financed in the context of the notice published in the Official Gazette 29 of 9 March 2022, for a total of 959 million euros in additional resources. To date, a total of 1,900 million euros have been allocated to 103 interventions. The additional resources will help broaden the ambition of the investment, which today aims to build at least 45,000 kilometers of water network at district level by 31 March 2026.
