The Commander of the Carabinieri Legion “Emilia Romagna”, General of Division Massimo Zuccher, visited the headquarters of the Provincial Command of the Carabinieri of Piacenza on Wednesday 8 May.
Upon his arrival at the barracks in via Beverora, he was received by Colonel Pierantonio Breda, Provincial Commander of Piacenza and, subsequently, met all the Officers, a representation of the Provincial Army Departments, the commanders of the provincial Special Departments and the staff on leave from the National Carabinieri Association.
General Zuccher, in addressing the soldiers present, expressed gratitude for the daily commitment made in carrying out the service and appreciation for the operational results achieved, underlining the need to continue to express proximity and closeness in favor of the population. On the occasion he greeted Brig. Maurizio Piazza, already active at the Provincial Command Unit and recently retired, who during his long career has earned himself the appreciation and esteem of his superiors and colleagues who have had the opportunity to work with him .
Subsequently, General Zuccher, accompanied by the provincial commander, went to the Government Palace for a brief meeting with the Prefect of Piacenza, Dr. Paolo Ponta and to follow, at the Palace of Justice where he met the prosecutor, Dr. Grazia Pradella.
Once back at headquarters, Colonel Breda presented an operational briefing on the initiatives taken in the last period. In particular, it highlighted the effort made to optimize the external projection of the departments which led to a significant increase in the force’s patrols in the area, allowing, in the first quarter of 2024, to have a 10% increase in the number of people of interest operational controls and to triple the number of foot patrols in city centres.
He then emphasized the momentum in repressive activity, especially in the fight against scams and thefts, as well as in the fight against sexual violence and harassment perpetrated on the streets, highlighting how, in the last four months, it was possible to discover the perpetrators of 4 recent incidents. Finally, in the field of external communication, the provincial commander, starting from the assumption that 10% of crimes involve the unaware necessary collaboration of the victim, documented the effort made to increase meetings with citizens of the weakest groups who are more than doubled and which led to a significant increase in scams foiled directly by the victims.
The Commander of the Legion then went to Podenzano where together with the Mayor, Dr. Alessandro Piva, he visited the structure that will host the soon-to-be-established Carabinieri station.
