Photographic exhibition Luisa Magliani Genti Museum Abruzzo

For two days only – 11 and 12 May – it will be possible to visit the photographic exhibition “From the eye to the soul” by Luisa Magliani, hosted in the rooms of the Museum of the People of Abruzzo.

A black and white journey into the history and present of an event that represents people’s ability to build a community around common elements and symbols.

Luisa Magliani is an artist who has revealed a deep passion for the popular traditions of Abruzzo.

“When I thought I wanted to create this exhibition – explains Magliani – my aim was to want to share what for me was the discovery or rediscovery of partly lost values. The “Farchie di Sant’Antonio” festival in Fara Filiorum Petri is an event for which people prepare all year round. I entered the various Contrade on tiptoe, politely asking to be able to witness the most significant moments of the creation of the farchy. My initial aim was to take as many shots as possible to complete a job that I would then archive once the party was over . As time passed, however, I understood that perhaps I would never have finished that work because, behind what may seem like a ritual or a re-enactment, there exists a community that comes alive from deep inside and that has made me feel more and more each time. part of it. So my photography, initially documentary, in a short time moved from farchia to farchiaioli and their eyes which every year continue to give me ever new emotions that I try to capture through my shots”.

Why from eye to soul? “It all arises from the fact that the farchia is made up of an internal part (itself a small farchia) called the “soul” to which the “refreshment” is carried out, that is, the addition of all the canes around it which will gradually increase the diameter. A part of me wanted to be inspired by this symbol, trying to enter, through my eye, into people’s souls, to capture emotions, vibrations, emotion, because often, behind songs and dances, joys and pains are hidden. their faces.”

The exhibition will be inaugurated on Saturday 11 May at 6.30 pm.
