Viterbo – We receive and publish – The regional excellences of taste return as protagonists with the third edition of Assaggi, the Lazio food and wine exhibition scheduled in Viterbo from 18 to 20 May 2024, presented today in the capital, in the Sala del Tempio di Vibia Sabina and Adriano , headquarters of the Rome Chamber of Commerce. An agri-food heritage of great richness and variety all to be discovered, promoted and valorised, from extra virgin olive oil to cured meats, from wine to cheeses, from pasta and baked goods to jams and nuts, through fruit and vegetables, meats, honey, herbal teas and more.

“The Lazio agri-food chain boasts recognized excellence, which is based on a thousand-year tradition: the oils, bread and cheeses, craft beers, but also the wines and meats are attested to the highest levels of national quality. – declared the president of the Rome Chamber of Commerce, Lorenzo Tagliavanti – The agri-food sector, in Rome and Lazio, has around 45 thousand companies between agriculture and food industries and it reaches over 100 thousand considering also food trade and catering.

Moderated by the general secretary of the Rieti Viterbo Chamber of Commerce, Francesco Monzillo, today’s press conference also saw interventions by the mayor of Viterbo, Chiara Frontini, the general director of Agro Camera (special company of the Rome Chamber of Commerce), Carlo Hausmann, the food and wine popularizer Francesca Rocchi and the food and wine expert Carlo Zucchetti.
“In just a few years Assaggi has transformed into a point of reference for our territory, an essential opportunity to highlight and discover the many excellences of Tuscia. – declared the mayor of Viterbo, Chiara Frontini – Year after year this event acquires more and more importance, transforming itself into an event to mark on the calendar, an unmissable event for operators in the sector and simple enthusiasts to discover our food and wine treasures”.

The intense weekend of the show, for lovers of good food and professionals in the sector, is therefore an opportunity not to be missed to delve deeper into and fully appreciate the high quality standards of regional products. Furthermore, the event aims to be an opportunity to increase tourist presences in the City of Popes, generating an economic impact for hospitality activities.

Over 60 companies participating in Assaggi 2024 are ready to welcome gourmets and professionals to exhibit and present both their classic and innovative productions, created to respond to the challenges of a constantly evolving market. A vast and varied wealth of flavors and aromas, knowledge and traditions, thanks to the best food and wine artisans and virtuous companies that work in the territories, every day, to give value to the culture of food. In addition to access to the Show during the opening to the public on Saturday and Sunday, Monday 20 May is reserved for Food & Beverage professionals.

The exhibition area is set up in the rooms of the Palazzo dei Papi but Assaggi also extends into the spaces of the adjacent CERSAL (Research Center for the History of Upper Lazio), where the guided tastings and panels dedicated to oil and wine are held. wine, and in the marquee in Piazza San Lorenzo. Here there is a succession of meetings with prestigious guests, show cooking, book presentations, sensory workshops and talks organized in collaboration with Agro Camera. Again in Piazza San Lorenzo, this year too there will be space for educational activities for the little ones organized by Slow Food Viterbo and Tuscia.

The ribbon cutting is scheduled for Saturday 18th May at 10am with Max Mariola, chef and TV presenter, while on the evening of Sunday 19th the closing will be with the show cooking and the presentation of the book by Ruben Bondì, a young talent of Italian cuisine. In between, a series of appointments with chefs, entrepreneurs, specialized journalists and special projects.

Fuori Assaggi also returns with Assaggi, its “fuori salon” with collateral initiatives that offer further insight into the agri-food sector of Lazio. For the occasion, from 15 to 20 May, local businesses are organizing – in Viterbo and in the centers of the province – a rich calendar of themed dinners, tastings and events, all focused on the regional food and wine culture and heritage.

Assaggi is organized by the Rieti-Viterbo chamber of commerce with the contribution of the Rome chamber of commerce, the municipality of Viterbo and with the participation of the Lazio region.
