Five reception centers in Viterbo to manage the bomb emergency
Institutions, bodies and parishes in synergy for the population
VITERBO – Gods 482 people from Viterbo hosted in reception facilities – this data was provided to us by first citizen, Chiara Frontini – about 300 were citizens with frailty. The serenity of the latter was ensured by the recreational and entertainment activities situation, monitored by Ares, Red Cross and Misericordia, was managed in two designated centres. The remaining three were set up for the population not in need of special attention.
According to Prefect Gennaro Chief the guarantee that made the situation of many less unstable was found in the parishes, which welcomed residents in the red zone and created calm conditions. In total there were churches that participated in the operation four: those of Santa Barbara, of the Holy Family, of Santa Maria della Grotticella and of Santi Valentino and Ilarior. The latest parish opened its doors to approx 250 fragile patientsaccompanied by the healthcare staff of the nursing home “Villa Rosa”. In tensile structures hosted 75 people.
Even in the camps organized by Red Cross at the Marshals School the presence of was recorded citizens in difficulty: approximately 90 beds have been assigned to those who had to leave their home and did not need hospital care.
The support for vulnerable situations started from the union between the Sma itselfm, pride of the provincial capital, and the bishop Orazio Francesco Piazza, who followed the matter in the preparatory phases of the last few months. A lunch was offered to the guests by the Municipality and the bishop himself celebrated a celebration Mass at 11.30 to support patients and sick people in particular. The commander of SMAM Gianluca Spina said he was honored for the help offered, also making use of the collaboration with the Guardia di Finanza: the organization’s barracks fell within the red zone, but its vehicles were hosted and its staff were welcomed.
With 179 evacuated on stretchers or wheelchairs, the president of the Red Cross Marco Sbocchia stated that he had not never left those in need of comfort and support abandoned to themselves: a result that is measured onhumanity of the staff and is calibrated on the words of Bishop Piazza, who encouraged the population not to give up in suffering.
