ANDPietramontecorvino’s “Identity Week” gets underway, series of events that will continue until May 19th. On Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 May 2024 we will discuss the present and future of the internal areas: how to transform the landscape potential, the uniqueness of a cultural and environmental heritage into real development, to reverse the trend towards depopulation? Saturday 11 May, at 10 am, in the Palazzo Ducale, it will be Antonio Alberto Clemente, professor at the University of Pescara, to talk about “Pietramontecorvino: from the historic center to the historic territory”. At 11 am, the focus will continue with Massimo Padrone, architect, who will illustrate the “Design explorations in the Municipality of Pietramontecorvino”. The day of discussion will continue at 12, with the intervention of Mauro Iacoviellomanager of the urban planning sector of the Municipality of Canosa di Puglia, who will report on “Bio-regional communities”, illustrating “The case of the river contract of the lower and middle valley of the Ofanto river”.

THE BICCARI EXAMPLE. On Saturday 11 May, at 4.30 pm, “Hosting is good” will be presented at Palazzo Ducale, the book in which the mayor of Biccari, Gianfilippo Mignogna, recounts the extraordinary experience he started in his town, a village transformed into an interesting laboratory of initiatives to trigger development dynamics and stop depopulation. Biccari’s is certainly a successful, positive example, which has recorded and is continuing to experience several successes. Many foreign citizens of Italian origin have decided, in recent years, to go and live in Biccari, to buy a house in the village, to renovate it and make it their home. The journalist will talk to Gianfilippo Mignogna Silvio Di Pasqua.

TARANTULA GARGANICA. Also on Saturday 11 May, the program offers two other events: at 6 pm there will be “Contemporary art in Pietramontecorvino: the residence of Massimo Uberti for the Hospitality of the Look”, with interventions by art curators Isabella Battista, Carmelo Cipriani and Alexander Larrate; at 9 pm, organized by Terravecchia Festival, the Tarantula Garganica concert will be held in Piazza Cavour.

TRATTURI, THE REGIONAL DOCUMENT. On Sunday 13 May, the “Identity Week” will be entirely dedicated to the “Document for the valorization of sheep tracks in Puglia”: this is the focus of the conference which will be held at 10 am, at Palazzo Ducale. The meeting will open with greetings from Lorenzo Piacquaddio, Environment delegate for the Municipality of Pietramontecorvino. Following will be: Costanza Moreo, Francesco Capurso and Roberta De Iulio of the Puglia Region; Antonella Marlene Milan, of the Polytechnic of Bari; Saverio Russo, of the University of Foggia. The second session will begin at 4 pm with speeches by Massimo Monteleoneof the University of Foggia, and of Mario De Angelis, national president of the Forestry Sector of Confcooperative. He will be then Fabio Mucilli, architect of the Municipality of San Severo, to illustrate the feasibility study on the “Tratturo Magno Landscape: from the path to the sheep track-territory”.
