There sixth stage of the Giro d’Italia 2024 it is the Torre del Lago Puccini (Viareggio)-Rapolano Terme. The length is 180km and is classified as one 2 star stop. Height difference 1,900 meters. The runners will face a section that will feature three sectors on dirt road, which they will encounter in the second part with a route on dirt roads that will be 12 km in total.

The stage crosses various stretches of the Strade Bianche, so we are in the Siena area. From Viareggio you cross the provinces of Pisa, reaching Volterra, as well as the Sienese area.

We start from Pisa along a flat stretch, then enter the Volterra area with the first climb of the day. The riders will have to tackle the first dirt sector, the 4.4km Vidritta one, already on the Strade Bianche program but extended by 2km. Subsequently there will be the Bagnaia climb (with another 4.8 km sector on dirt), which however has gradients that can reach peaks of 15%, and then the second GPM of the stage, that of Grotti. Finally, the third sector on the Pievina dirt road (2.4 km), with various eats and drinks, and then closing the test with the wall of Serre di Rapolano.

Climbs of the sixth stage

The stage features the climb of Volterra, a fourth category GPM, and that of Grotti, of the same category and 2.5 km at 6.0% average. The final tear on Serre di Rapolano presents peaks of up to 20% in the final stretch.
