Increase in fees for residences for the elderly in the Marche region: Pensioners’ Unions launch a questionnaire to evaluate assistance and tariffs

A questionnaire to find out the situation of non-self-sufficient elderly people hospitalized in residential socio-health facilities in the Marche region. This is the initiative organized by the Pensioners’ Federations of SPI Cgil, FNP Cisl and UILP Uil, which for years have been committed to trying to guarantee these people – the most fragile of our local communities – adequate social and health care at reasonable costs. sustainable.

«The pandemic first and the inflationary crisis afterwards increased the costs of assistance and despite the so-called “refreshments” provided by the March Regionand – report SPI Cgil, FNP Cisl and UILP Uil – the managing bodies have seen fit to increase the fees paid by users and their families in an indiscriminate, unilateral way and without any control on the part of the Health Authorities

According to the projections reworked by the Pensioners’ Federations of SPI Cgil, FNP Cisl and UILP Uil, today non-self-sufficient elderly people in regional structures pay a fee equal to on average just under 1,600 euros per month. In some cases, more than 2,000 euros per month. These are figures that are impossible for the elderly and their families to afford, and unfortunately, the expense incurred does not always correspond to adequate assistance.

The questionnaires, intended for the elderly and their family members, will be administered in the offices of SPI Cgil, FNP Cisl and UILP Uil present throughout the regional territory, or, when possible, directly in the Structures.

«The objective is to bring out the reality of the situations in which these people live. – they underline Elio Cerri, General Secretary SPI Cgil Marche, Silvano Giangiacomi General Secretary FNP Cisl Marche and Marina Marozzi, General Secretary UILP Uil MarcheThe results of this investigation will be presented in a public initiative to be held next autumn and will be brought to the attention of the Region and Healthcare Companies, with which, together with CGIL CISL and UIL Confederali, we have opened a permanent discussion table. We are convinced of one thing – they raise and conclude – the residential and health-care system in the Marche region needs a profound review, and we believe that through this initiative it is possible to lay the foundations for thinking about the directions and objectives of health-care policy that we want to pursue in the Marche.»
