The fight against hydrogeological instability, one of the plagues of the Savonese area, promotion of tourism aimed at disabled people and the recovery of those parts of territory abandoned by the European Union.

Yesterday, May 8, Stefano Balleari, Fratelli d’Italia candidate for the European elections, with Stefania Tosi, the city councilor Massimo Arecco and the city secretary Filippo Marino, met with the neighborhood representatives of the Conca Verde and some residents who asked the candidate to the European Parliament the problems of the area in which they live and asked how the European Union can help with resources and funding for the recovery.

“We have a structure here that was created for disabled children, born as a school, with a gym and a rehabilitation swimming pool – said one of the participants present at the meeting – but it has been abandoned for years and in the same way we feel abandoned. The De Franceschini family had donated the structure to the Municipality with the constraint that it be dedicated to disabled people. It is a structure with enormous potential but it is there, still, in the hands of vandals who arrive in the evening and continue to destroy it. If it were recovered as a facility where disabled people can spend their holidays with their companions it would be good for those people and for us residents.” To recover the structure it would probably take more than ten million. “Today there is much more sensitivity, attention to the issue of disability – declares Balleari – and a new mentality in the population and the outcry at Vannacci’s words is significant. This is a topic that I am passionate about.”

Another problem is that of hydrogeological instability which the European Union intends to combat in one of the points of the 2030 agenda or with resources from programs such as that relating to the Cohesion Fund.

“Hydrogeological instability in this area is an ordinary thing now – asked a resident – we have a road that was closed after the 2019 flood and is still closed. It’s been almost 5 years. Are there no European resources for the territory?”.

“The voice of Liguria needs to be heard more at a European level – stated Balleari – Until now we have been reluctant as Euro MPs who however perhaps did not have the knowledge and understanding of this territory, of the problems but at the same time also of the wonders that are part of it. I had no idea about the landslide that has occurred in recent years and I will also bring it to the attention of the Regional Council to see if slightly more immediate solutions can be provided. Naturally, in the event that I am elected, it will be my concern to see whether within the 2030 Agenda or other directives that can be constructed by a larger group of MEPs than we had in the past, we can be more attentive to the territory and bring the requests of the territory in Europe and from Europe bring back to the territories what we should be able to build together”.
