A showcase for the publications of the Italian Alpine Club and a focus on the school

This year too, the Italian Alpine Club (CAI) will be present at Turin International Book Fairwhich will be held at Lingotto Fairs from the 9 to 13 May. In the Pavilion 2the CAI stand (J161) will welcome visitors with a vast selection of publications, offering a journey through the mountains and Alpine culture.

What will visitors find at the CAI stand?

  • Various publications: From manuals to guides, from cartography to essays and fiction, adults and children will be able to explore the works published and co-published by the CAI.
  • Information material: Information and promotional material will be distributed on the CAI’s activities and on the advantages deriving from being part of this prestigious association.

Focus on the school
On Thursday 9 May, the CAI will pay particular attention to the world of schools. The contacts of the CAI-School Working Group they will be present to provide illustrative materials and information on projects aimed at students and teachers. A new promotional video will show the many initiatives proposed to teachers and students of all levels, while the portal CAI-School will be presented upon completion. Furthermore, viewers will allow children to virtually immerse themselves in the mountain environments explored by their peers together with the guides of the CAI Sections throughout Italy.

Editorial presentations
In the “Mountain Room”, set up in the Trentino stand (Oval Pavilion) and managed by Trentino Marketing in collaboration with the Trento Film Festival, the CAI will propose two interesting presentations:

  1. Counterhistory of mountaineering: Friday 10 May at 7.30 pm, Andrea Zannini will present his essay published by Laterza in collaboration with the CAI. The author offers a new point of view on the Alps and on the history of mountaineering, exploring the ascents made between the seventeenth and nineteenth centuries by various figures, such as hunters, artisans and religious people.
  2. The bones of the Earth. Primo Levi and the mountain: On Saturday 11 May at 11.45am, the volume accompanying the exhibition of the same name at the National Mountain Museum of Turin will be presented. The catalogue, in addition to the curators’ texts, includes contributions from various authors and offers an in-depth look at the relationship between Primo Levi and the mountains.
