CATANZARO A “classic” much appreciated by adults and children and capable, like few others, of bringing a large audience closer to the world of the seven notes. “Peter and the Wolf” by Prokofiev, the musical fairy tale par excellence, will be performed on the stage of the Politeama Theater in Catanzaro on Friday 10 May, at 9 pm, with the Calabria Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by maestro Filippo Arlia, and guest of with the exception of Peppe Servillo, as narrator. It will be the famous actor and singer, former founder of Avion Travel, who will guide the spectators to discover the different characters represented by a musical theme and an instrument of the orchestra: the chirping bird is characterized by the flute, the duck by the oboe , the cat with the clarinet, the grumpy grandfather with the bassoon, the scary wolf with the horns, the protagonist Pierino with all the stringed instruments, the thunderous volleys of the hunters’ rifles from the timpani and the bass drum. Until the conclusion of the fairy tale with a small triumphal procession of the protagonist and his friends, conceived by Prokofiev to offer the public the opportunity to quickly listen to all the main themes of this enchanting composition. The evening will continue with two other gems in the lineup: “Le Boeuf sur le toit (The Ox on the Roof)”, a work in rondo form on Brazilian themes by Darius Milhaud, and the orchestra suite of West Side Story, from the famous musical by Leonard Bernstein, arranged by Jack Mason. A program that therefore showcases the stylistic signature of the Calabria Philharmonic Orchestra, with its over eighty elements capable of distinguishing themselves, on the national and international scene, for their vast repertoire and for the versatility and versatility of their interpretations. Friday’s event is part of the symphony season promoted by the Politeama Foundation and the Tchaikovsky Conservatory of Catanzaro with the aim of opening the doors of the theater to the whole city.
