PERUGIA – May 11th should have been the big day for Real Foligno but no, the boys of Patron “Mimmo” Caso, winners of group A of the C2 championship (photo)will stay at home because the CRU didn’t even invite them to the big Umbrian five-a-side football festival that will be held at the Pala di Vittorio in Terni.

The story we are about to tell you is incredible and the protagonists are once again them, the managers of the CRU FIGC.

Let’s start from the beginning: this year the CRU established the Umbria Five-a-side Football Champion Trophy and through press release no. 185 bis of 26 April establishes the rules for participating in the coveted trophy which is valid only for glory and is reserved for C1 and C2 male and C female.

Well the CRU does not indicate a date in the press release, but informally listens to the clubs to decide when to play and yesterday finally with press release n°192 bis it communicates that the game will be played on Saturday 11th at the Pala Di Vittorio in Terni. The winners of groups A and B, Real Foligno and Umbra Sabina, will participate in the trophy for the C2 series.

Now, with great surprise, the Foligno managers discover that the C2 series final is not included in Saturday’s program. The Umbra Junior Cup final would have been inserted instead of the C2 series.

But what happened? Real Madrid had given availability until May 11th, but Umbra Sabina from what transpires could not take the field because the patron saint San Pancrazio is celebrated in Calvi dell’Umbra and players and managers would be involved in the celebration.

So when will the C2 series Umbria 5-a-side football champion trophy be played? In press release number 192 bis nothing is said in this regard and so Real Foligno decided to ask the CRU for explanations via certified email.

After the damage comes the insult…
Now the risk is that the CRU finds a new date to play the final, but Real could be forced to take the field with a reshuffled lineup due to numerous absences.

Nothing serious because as mentioned the trophy is only valid for glory, but it is clear that the CRU could have handled this situation differently and instead made it a joke. Perhaps now, to remedy this, the managers will decide to award the trophy directly to San Pancrazio.
