Despite important signs of change, in the next few hours we expect sudden showers of rain and some isolated thunderstorms in some regions of our country.
The cyclonic vortex that has crossed Italy in the last 48 hours has moved towards the south of Sicily and will head straight towards the north-eastern coasts of the African continent and then towards Greece.
For this reason, in the Northern and Central regions the meteorological picture has given clear signs of improvement, while in the Southern regions the atmosphere is still very unstable and will remain so for most of the day.
In next few hoursin fact, at risk of sudden changes showers also with a stormy background will be the southernmost part of Campania, Calabria, some stretches of Basilicata, the Ionian area of Puglia and a large part of Sicily. In these areas, thunderstorms may also become very intense, accompanied by sudden gusts of wind and locality hailstorms.
Only between late afternoon and evening, while in the rest of the country the weather will continue to remain fairly stable, the first signs of improvement will also be noticed in the southern regions.
Based on available forecasts, the Department of Civil Protection in agreement with the regions involved, who are responsible for activating civil protection systems in the territories concerned, issued a warning of adverse weather conditions. Weather phenomena, impacting different areas of the country, could lead to hydrogeological and hydraulic criticalities which are reported, in a national summary, in the national criticality and alert bulletin available on the Department website (www.protezionecivile.gov.it).
Based on the expected phenomena, a yellow alert has been assessed for Thursday 9 May for Campania, Basilicata, Puglia, Calabria and part of Sicily.
