If it is true, as it is true, that the health of the soul is directly proportional to the health of the body (mens sana in corpore sano), as Juvenal said in a paragraph of the “Satires”, it can certainly be said that the educational objectives of training integral part of the person, established in the institute’s sports project, were largely achieved by the students and teachers of physical education of the “Einstein da Vinci” high schools, given the results.

In fact, the goals achieved by the women’s athletics team, student category, are considered excellent, as they placed first in the regional preliminary competitions on April 23rd and will enter the national phase which will be held in Pescara from May 27th to 31st. The students Sarah Albano, Stefania Rita Caprioli, Elsa Giampaolino, Federica Giorgio, Giada Grillo, Francesca Marzulli, Giulia Tempesta, Alessia Ayroldi, obtained the best score in the general regional ranking among the competing teams, thanks also to Elsa Giampaolino’s first places in the long jump, by Sara Albano in the 100m sprint race and first in the 4x100m relay. The work was completed by the third place in the shot put by Giulia Tempesta and the fourth place by the cross-country skier Giada Grillo in the 1000 meter race.

In the specialty of table tennis, in the regional phase of the student category, the students Annachiara de Bari and Matilde Ingravalle ranked first, winning the category tournament, which, however, due to the alternation rule, this year does not include the national final. Identical result of the men’s tennis student team, composed of Francesco Giuseppe Colasanto, Federico Corrado Lo Basso, Domenico Roselli, Giuseppe Samarelli: the students ranked first, at regional level, both in the team ranking and in the individual ranking with Colasanto Francesco Giuseppe who climbed onto the highest podium. However, we should not forget the excellent result of Alessio Loconsole who, first classified in the 100m in the provincial phase, distinguished himself well in the regional competitions. The hope, obviously, is to repeat, in the national finals, the title of Italian Champions, awarded to the men’s volleyball team of the “A. Einstein” Scientific High School at the Student Sports Games way back in 2001.

But beyond the results, we like to underline, first of all, the passion and enthusiasm with which these young budding athletes participated in the competitions, realizing the Decubertian dictum of active participation and commitment – for the founder of the Olympic Games In modern times, in fact, sport is a powerful lever towards democracy and peace – and balancing the primary needs of study with the undeniable needs of self-expression, in a positive and praiseworthy combination. To the teachers of physical education, prof. Domenico Altomare, Luigi Silvestri, Maria Caccavo and Nicola Bovino, and the young talented athletes were warmly congratulated by the Headmaster, Prof. Giuseppina Bassi, and the entire Einstein da Vinci high school community.
