SOVICILLE. The celebrations in honor of Saint Catherine of Siena will end on Friday 10 May, in the parish of San Bartolomeo Apostolo in San Rocco a Pilli, on the 25th anniversary of her proclamation as co-patroness of Europe (the other patrons are San Benedetto da Norcia, Bridget of Sweden, Saints Cyril and Methodius and Saint Teresa Benedicta of the Cross).
A rather extensive program, wanted by the parish priest Monsignor Giovanni Soldani, vicar of the archbishopric of Siena, which began last April 26th, and then continued the following day with the solemn Mass celebrated by Cardinal Augusto Paolo Lojudice.
Many other events have punctuated these celebrations which will culminate with a conference that will begin at 9 pm in the oratory hall, where Father Alfredo Scarciglia, parish priest of San Domenico, will discuss the theme: “St. Catherine: the common good and the service to peace in Europe”. The introduction will be by Professor Piccini with “Europe at the time of Catherine”.
