In the last few weeks i Carabinieri from the Palmi company have carried out a series of checks on commercial activities aimed at combating environmental crimes. TO Delianuova the owner of a garage of approximately 100 square meters was reported to the judicial authority for unauthorized waste management. The entire workshop was seized. There is a total absence of any sort of documentation certifying the correct disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous special waste or their consequent traceability, which, as established by the Environmental Code, must be very rigorous.
To date, the destination of the chemical residues and gods waste produced by the aforementioned commercial activityprobably disposed of illicitly to the detriment of Aspromonte’s natural heritage. Sheet metaliron bodywork parts but also more dangerous materials such as used oil, fuel residues, lead batteries and coolants could have been abandoned over the years in the surrounding natural area with serious damage to the entire local ecosystem, in particularly for the animal world and for the people themselves, given the presence of important cultivated lands and renowned agricultural companies.
All the special waste, given their danger, they must be transported by specific companies to centers authorized for their destruction and safety so as not to contaminate the environment or produce harmful elements. Each movement should be traced in a timely and precise manner.
The controls of the Carabinieri, always at the forefront in the protection of the environment and the natural landscape, will continue intense as the summer season approaches, a period in which, due to the greater influx of tourists, nature is more threatened and more vulnerable.
