There are not only the 200 families to be expropriated and a city that will significantly change its characteristics and that for at least nine years will have to deal with theair pollution, acoustics, the state of the waters and the health of its inhabitants. Because of Table, Vicenza – a UNESCO heritage site with its historic center and Palladian villas – risks losing the green lung of the city, the Bosco Lanerossi. It is an area of 11 thousand square meters adjacent to the former Pettinatura Lanerossi, closed since 1994. Within 30 years the surface was transformed into a wild forest, inhabited by fawns and badgers and featuring 75 different plant species. A heritage of the entire city destined to disappear: following the presentation of the definitive project of theHigh speedin fact, in place of the former Lanerossi the base camp and construction site at the service of the works.
For this reason last week hundreds of activists they occupied the forest and started a series of initiatives. “According to the Iricav2 and RFI project, the area affected by the industrial construction site will be the wooded area – he says Marco Zilio of the activists’ assembly – and not the dilapidated structure from the former combing which would otherwise have to be subjected to reclamation. For this reason, we believe that this place must be defended and protected due to its history and naturalistic importance.” And while the TAR’s verdict is expected within a few days, after the appeal by Italia Nostra, on the project concerning lot 2 (Vicenza Ovest), thefelling of trees it is given as imminent – at most ten days – as it is included in the pre-construction phase (war cleanup must be carried out in the area).
