The city of Catanzaro and AMC SpA were protagonists at the national conference on the safety of local public transport, held on 8 May at the Next Mobility Exhibition in Milan.

AMC Spa was the only TPL and Mezzogiorno company that intervened on the topic of public transport safety.

Below, we report the speech of the General Director of AMC, Eng. Luca Brancaccio, as speaker, at the national conference on the safety of local public transport, held today at the Next Mobility Exhibition fair in Rho (Milan), which was attended, among others, by the transport councilor of the Lombardy region, Lucente and the councilor to the mobility of the municipality of Milan, Censi. “I thank Eng. Tahir for the invitation to the conference on a very sensitive topic, especially in Italy. To date, all stakeholders must provide a significant contribution to keeping attention high on the culture of road safety in general and local public transport in particular. In this sense, companies and the relevant administrations must implement the appropriate operational actions in order to guarantee a radical cultural change and implement, even with significant investments, full compliance with the provisions of the EU regulations, with particular reference to 2144/2019, i.e. the ad horas adoption of advanced vehicle driving support systems. The road is still uphill. On the other hand, if the responsibilities in terms of safety and security are to be attributed to the trinomial driver/manager/designer, it is clear that the sector regulations can only be considered a feedback from the design and must be determined on the basis of it. To the functionality of the vehicle, i.e. the full guarantee of its safety, is added the behavior of the driver both in terms of systems, i.e. the reduction of accidents in line with EU objectives, and in terms of safe driving understood as a high level of concentration , but above all as undertaking specific professional training processes. Staff training and technological innovation applied to the fleet represent the starting point for bridging the gap with other EU countries and for returning to the orbit of vision zero.”
