More bad weather with rain and showers but easing, temperatures essentially stationary and yellow alert in two provinces: Catania and Messina. These are the weather forecasts in Sicily for Thursday 9 May.
Yellow alert in the Catania and Messina areas
The regional civil protection has issued notice 24129 relating to the meteorological-hydrogeological and hydraulic risk which indicates yellow alert in the Catania and Messina areas. Rain reported everywhere: “Scattered, even in the form of downpours or thunderstorms, in the north-eastern sectors, with cumulative quantities regularly moderate; isolated, even of a reverse or stormy nature, on the remaining sectors, with weak cumulative quantities”.
Seas: The Strait of Sicily offshore is very rough
Winds: Locally and momentarily strong from the northern quadrants to the western sectors.
Adverse weather conditions
Scattered to widespread rainfall persists, including showers or thunderstorms, across the entire island. The phenomena will be accompanied by heavy showers, frequent electrical activity, local hailstorms and strong gusts of wind.

Center and Sardinia. The pressure is increasing in our regions and so the day will be characterized by an irregularly cloudy sky. Of note is the possibility of even intense cloud cover over the Apennines, but without associated precipitation. Mild weather during the day. Weak winds from the northern quadrants. The seas will generally be little rough.
South and Sicily. Our regions are influenced by the action of a cyclonic vortex. The day will be characterized by very unstable weather, in fact there may be numerous precipitations, sometimes thunderstorms or heavy ones. The weather, although very cloudy, will be drier in Puglia and western Sicily (here from the afternoon). Less hot climate, generally weak winds.

In the evening large and rapid clearings up to clear or slightly cloudy skies; On the Apennines it was a mostly cloudy day, except for the presence of scattered clouds in the morning.

North. The pressure increases decisively over the regions therefore the day will be characterized by general good weather conditions, in fact the sun will not have major problems shining in a sky that will be slightly cloudy. Only the possibility of occasional short afternoon rains in the Alpine sectors should be noted. Very mild climate. Weak winds from the northern quadrants.
Center and Sardinia. The anticyclone embraces our regions so on this day we will have good weather conditions with the sky showing little cloud everywhere. Some isolated thunderstorms in the province of Frosinone cannot be ruled out during the afternoon. Definitely mild climate and winds that will blow weakly from the northern quadrants. Seas generally rough.
South and Sicily. The pressure is increasing on our regions, but local instability will remain. On this day the morning will pass with a sky at times very cloudy even with intermittent rain showers in the Calabrian mountains and in the Taranto area. In the afternoon, thunderstorms may develop in Calabria and on the Pollino. Mild weather during the day. Winds that will blow from the north, rough seas.
