Bergamo Historic Gran Prix on track on May 26th

The «Bergamo Historic Gran Prix» is about to start its engines for a special edition, which celebrates the twentieth anniversary of the event, scheduled for May 26th. Thousands of spectators will enliven the Mura circuit for a day of celebration dedicated to motors with the historical re-enactment of the Grand Prix which in 1935 saw Tazio Nuvolari triumph at the wheel of the Alfa Romeo P3.

Dozens of historic cars will arrive in Bergamo to participate in the event. Pre-war cars, single-seaters, GTs and GTSs will arrive in the Upper Town, divided into four heats, built between 1950 and 1975, while another two heats will see historic motorbikes produced before 1975 in action.

Among the many four-wheeled queens, the 1938 Maserati 6CM, the 1929 Ford A Speedster, similar to the first car used in racing by Manuel Fangio, the 1939 Alfa Romeo Ala Spessa 2500 and the 1929 Bugatti T40 stand out. Gts – who will repeat the spectacular “Le Mans old style” start with the cars lined up in a herringbone pattern and the drivers who will reach them at a run – all eyes will be on the Porsche 904 and 911, the 1965 Alfa Romeo GTA and the 1969 Ferrari 250 GT. Not to be outdone is the two-wheel lineup, which sees all the best brands of the time represented: MV Agusta, Gilera, Moto Guzzi, Rumi, Laverda, Benelli, Norton, Suzuki and Kawasaki. «The participating cars and motorbikes will be on display at Colle Aperto from the morning onwards.

The public will be able to admire up close authentic jewels that trace over 70 years of history of cars and motorbikes, as well as the national and foreign motor industry – explained Simone Tacconi during the presentation of the event, where the deputy mayor Sergio Gandi was also present –. Cars and motorcycles, after the awards ceremony which will take place in the park adjacent to Piazza della Cittadella, will go into action on the 2,980 meters of the track defined sublime by the legendary Tazio Nuvolari, winner with the Alfa Romeo P3 of the only edition of the Bergamo GP in 1935″ . «Finally, it should be remembered – concluded Tacconi – the charitable objective of the event, the funds raised will go to the non-profit organization Spazio Autism Bergamo”.
