Urgent Military Flight for Sick Child from Catania to Trieste

In a race against time, a 7-year-old boy, seriously ill and originally from the province of Cataniawas urgently transported to the Burlo Garofolo hospital in Trieste thanks to a special Air Force flight.

The little boy, suffering from multiple serious pathologies, required specialist care not available in his hometown.

The Garibaldi hospital in Catania, where the child was initially hospitalised, identified the need for an immediate transfer to Trieste, recognizing that the child’s condition did not allow transport via the usual civil flights.

Faced with this critical situation, the prefecture took charge of coordinating the operation, demonstrating notable efficiency in organizing the transport.

The military flight, arranged in record time, allowed the child to be transported across Italy in a few hours, thus guaranteeing timely access to the necessary care.

This episode highlights the importance of the synergy between health institutions and the armed forces in health emergency situations, underlining the Air Force’s commitment to supporting the community in times of critical need.

The timely intervention and collaboration between different state entities offered hope of recovery for the young patient, testifying to the effectiveness of the Italian emergency health system.
