Giro d’Italia, a revolution for traffic – Teramo

MARTINSICURO. The start of the stage of the Giro d’Italia cycling on 16 May is approaching and the event is expected to last a whole day – but the previous one will also be affected – full of traffic and parking problems, especially in the town centre. In particular, the morning of Thursday 16th will be marked by traffic problems, with several roads closed to traffic as well as the Europa Nord seafront, where the stage will start; and it will also be problematic to park vehicles in the city center, where there will be bans with forced removal of vehicles.
The local police of Martinsicuro have issued an ordinance aimed at regulating traffic and parking which first of all provides for a ban on transit and parking on the northern seafront area, from the roundabout near the mouth of the Tronto river to the intersection of the seafront with via Moro, from 1pm on May 15th – to allow the organization to prepare for the start of the stage – to 7pm on the 16th. In the streets that lead from via Battisti to the seafront – via del Mare, delle Lancette, delle Lampare, del Porto and Marconi – and on the Las Palmas roundabout there will be a parking ban with forced removal from 1pm on May 15th to 7pm on the 16th. On the southern seafront of the town, from the Las Palmas roundabout to the Via dei Pini intersection, transit will be prohibited from 3am to 14 of 16 May and parking ban from 6am to 1.30pm on the same day. In via Battisti, in the stretch between the intersections with via Rodi and via Marconi, parking is prohibited from 4am to 2pm and transit is prohibited from 6am to 1.30pm on the 16th. On the Italy seafront in Villa Rosa, in the stretch between the intersections with via Baracca and Filzi, no parking from 3am to 12pm and no transit from 7am to 11am on the 16th. In via Moro and via Roma up to the junction with state road 16 no parking from 3am to 2pm and no transit from 9am .55 until the end of the event: the three traffic lights in the area will be turned off. In via Roma in the stretch from the intersection with via Moro to via Paolucci, in Villa Rosa, parking is prohibited on both sides from 5 am to 2 pm: the road will be used for parking the caravan of departure vehicles. On May 16th, a ban on parking and transit will also be established in via Colombo, between the intersection with via Roma and via Pescara from 8 to 10 am. In the stretch of via Roma from via Moro to via Venezia and in the stretch at the intersection with via Molise transit ban from 9.55am until the end of the event: the passage of vehicles will only be allowed when leaving the town. Finally, in the car park in Piazza Santa Rita, right in the center of the town, parking is prohibited from 3am to 2pm and transit is prohibited from 7am to 1pm on 16 May.
