The Tuscany Region obtained a special mention for the video “Women in agriculture” which participated in the RuralCiak competition during the Journalism Festival in Perugia.
The video was presented for the first time in November in Florence, as part of the “Tuscany of women” exhibition – a project of the Tuscany Region conceived by the head of the cabinet of the President of the Tuscany Region – in the panel dedicated to “Women, certification at female: reduction of the gender gap. Regional and business policies”.
Satisfaction was expressed by the President of the Region who commented that this is a recognition that Tuscany can be proud of and a hope: the female vision of agriculture must once again become the protagonist and continue to grow.
The vice-president and councilor for agri-food of the Region was happy with this result and underlined how women in agriculture have always had a fundamental role and today, who have now come to represent 32 percent in Tuscany, going from holding unskilled jobs to leading positions to become protagonists in the organization and management of companies, the time has come to understand their strategic contribution. The vice president also highlighted how Tuscan agricultural entrepreneurs are often graduates, have multifunctional activities – direct sales, agritourism, product processing, educational and social farms – practice green activities such as organic farming and have, in general, the tendency to combine tradition and innovation.
Not only that, agriculture, in addition to being a crucial production sector, is one of the economic sectors in which there is the highest rate of smart female entrepreneurs, i.e. those attentive to innovation.
The video “Women in agriculture” is the exciting synthesis of all this, concluded the vice president, and also represents an encouragement to continue on the path undertaken and work further so that, with regional policies and support, the presence of women in agriculture grows, may the number of all those women grow who, breaking down barriers and prejudices, look to the future equipped with an important cultural background and a lot of experience, paving the way for a more inclusive, resilient and sustainable future.
