BRUGES (BELGIUM) (ITALPRESS) – Fiorentina wins the Conference League final in Athens, thanks to a 1-1 away draw against Bruges which, by virtue of the 3-2 in the first leg, gives Biraghi and his teammates the chance to play for the trophy again after last year’s defeat in Prague against West Ham. Beltran responded to Vanaken’s momentary lead with a penalty, his fourth goal of the competition. Timid start by Fiorentina, who made a few too many errors in ball management, with Bruges finding the opening goal in the 20th minute: Vanaken moved well on the Viola’s attacking midfield and put in a cross which was not touched by any player and slips in where Terracciano cannot intervene. Everything therefore needs to be done again for Italiano’s team, who a few minutes later will immediately have the chance to get back ahead in the overall set, thanks to Nico Gonzalez who, however, is hypnotized face to face with Mignolet. However, the goal conceded seems to give a jolt to Fiorentina, who in the 35th minute were still close to equalising, with Belotti’s pass for Kouamè, who coordinated and hit the crossbar. Score and sides remained in balance even in the second half, but in the 74th minute a new opportunity for Fiorentina, this time with Biraghi, who smashed the good free kick from the edge of the crossbar with his left foot. Second wood for the Viola, who will also hit the third a few minutes later, again with Kouamè who heads the ball into the area which hits the post to the left of Mignolet. From here on, Fiorentina’s siege intensifies, and in the 82nd minute they find the decisive episode: a foul in the area by Mechele on the newly introduced Nzola which earns the penalty in favor of the Tuscans, subsequently completed by Beltran. 1-1 and the Italian’s eleven, however, had difficulty managing the final counter-attacks of the Belgian team, with Vanaken who in the 95th minute collected a bad throw-in from Dodò and kicked with his right foot but found a great response from Terracciano, who sent the titles to the match ends and gives Fiorentina the second consecutive European final. – photo Ipa Agency – (ITALPRESS).
