Crotone – We have chosen not to publish photos of the felines as they are strong images. In fact, the “kitticide” in the city, mainly in the historic center of Crotone. But let’s move on to other areas for now.

The photo is generic, it concerns where it now stands “Ali’s garden“, inaugurated at the end of February on the anniversary of the Steccato di Cutro massacre. Last Monday’s discovery, concerns this area of the city, not far from the historic center itself where, if you remember, the cat was beaten Merlindid not survive the surgery [LEGGI QUI]. Two cats were torn to pieces in via Miscello da Ripe.

Then two other four-legged friends were killed in via Gallucci. L’Enpa (National Animal Protection Agency) by Giuseppe Trocino and the Historic Center Committee of Crotone (spokesman Davide Monte) will present a complaint to the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Crotone. In total there should be around eight cats reported to Enpa.

“In many years of activity on cats, such frequent incidents of mistreatment have never been recorded, especially in the same area of the city – he told us a little while ago Giuseppe Trocino of Enpa, reached by telephone – for us, in the absence of concrete elements, this leads us to ask for greater control over the territory, otherwise we can say that the city is at the mercy of barbarians who can carry out criminal acts, today to the detriment of animals and tomorrow who knows towards whom”.

Furthermore, a signature collection has started at La Pizzeria La Gola on the city seafront (ask for Daniela) to start the complaint. This is the content, attached to the collection of signatures:

In recent weeks we have recorded the death of numerous cats in various areas of the city
strays
– the two write – in some cases (discoveries in via Gallucci) it was not possible to ascertain the cause of death as the animals were not collected by the competent authorities for toxicological tests, in other cases (discoveries in the historic center of Crotone and the intersection of Via Boito and Miscello from Ripe) it immediately became clear that the cause of death was attributable to mistreatment suffered by the cats which were found with fractured limbs rather than sectioned into several parts”.

Monte and Trocino ask forintervene to identify the perpetrators of such criminal conduct and then prosecute them in the appropriate places“. They also postulate to the Director General of the ASP “to want to strengthen the veterinary service of the ASP, which up to now has been unable to guarantee timely and effective rescue interventions, and to the Mayor of Crotone to invest economic resources in the prevention of stray animals”.

They conclude like this: “We ask for greater control of the territory, especially at night, and the activation and/or strengthening of public video surveillance which, from information gathered, appears not to be functioning in many neighborhoods of the city”.
