With the regular season just concluded, Igea Virtus begins to plan for the future and does so by putting pen to paper on the agreement with the new sporting director. This is Angelo Sorace from Reggio.

There New Hygieia Virtus begins to define the first pieces for the 2024/2025 season, which will still see it as a protagonist in the Serie D championship, after the well-deserved salvation achieved at the end of the just concluded championship. The Giallorossi club has thus formalized the agreement with the new sporting director Angelo Sorace65 years old, originally from Polistena (RC), who wore the shirt of Nuova Igea Virtus at the end of the 80s.
In his career as a player he had important experiences in Canicattì and Spezia, before embarking on a career as a manager. In a first phase he held the position of observer for Torino Calcio in the areas of Basilicata, Calabria and Sicily, and then took on the experience of sporting director of Vigor Lamezia, in the year in which Igea Virtus of Gaetano Auteri won promotion to Serie C. He then continued his career in Cosenza with the coach Giuseppe Sannino, in Catanzaro and in Trapani during the years of the entrepreneur Morace. He then had various experiences in Serie D, including that with Foce Vara, a team from the province of Spezia, and with FC Lamezia. He finally collaborated with the sporting director Gabriele Martino, with important experience in Reggina, where he managed the youth sector as a manager and with Barletta.

Personally I am very attached to this team, not only for having worn its shirt at the end of the 80s, in the years of Sindoni’s presidency, but also for the beautiful experience lived with my brother Pino Sorace, who in the 1977/1978 season won with the Nuova Igea promoted to Serie C. It was a thrill to see his photo at the entrance to the D’Alcontres locker room, together with players like Cammarano, Tortara, Castanotto and Di Palma, who made the history of this club. I will make my experience available to the company not only for building the team, but also for many other organizational aspects that we will reveal to you in the coming months.”
