Olbia, at the Gramsci we talk about artificial intelligence with Andrea Iovino.

On 9 May 2024, from 12pm to 1.30pm, in the Aula Magna of the Liceo Classico Linguistico “A. Gramsci” of Olbia, a meeting will be held on the theme “School in the time of AI – Reflections and comparison on the value of learning in the time of conflict between free will and algorithms”. The meeting will be chaired by Andrea Iovino, graduated in Modern Literature and specialized in History of Art and Mass Communication, well-known writer, storyteller and pedagogist, and is continuously engaged in researching educational strategies that have the concrete objective of preparing new generations in the challenge with becoming. Currently, Iovino holds the role of head of the Biennial of Mediterranean Arts and Sciences, a training body of the Ministry of Education.

The meeting is held on the occasion of the 10 years of collaboration between Bimed and the Gallura high school, a project born in 1997, in collaboration with the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and the Ministry of Public Education, with the aim of promoting culture and education as development tools for the Italian South. In recent years, Gramsci has actively participated in the creative writing relay and other initiatives. In the current school year, at the behest of the Director Salvatorica Scuderi, four classes of the Institute have joined, two of which have taken part in a collateral activity called “The Dictionary of Legality”. For three-year students, the Writing Relay for Citizenship and Legality allowed the acquisition of 30 hours as part of the courses for transversal skills and orientation.

Literature teacher Mariella Taras has guided students in this experience over the years, underlining the importance of a practical approach to training through reflection and interaction. Antonella Piredda, project coordinator and relay tutor in the classes involved, worked with her for the Linguistic High School and then Maria Demuro, Silvia Di Vece and for the Classical High School Alessandra Campanella.

Furthermore, the Liceo Classico Linguistico “A. Gramsci” participated in the national ScriViAmo award, winning in the senior category with one of the stories from the classes involved in the writing relay.

The conference – the organizers say – represents an important opportunity to reflect on the future of schools in an era dominated by artificial intelligence and to discuss the challenges and opportunities that it entails for the world of education.
